The Diemx Automation Wet temper system is designed to apply a wet tempering solution to the steel prior to entering the tempering mill. By cleaning the surface of the strip prior to temper rolling any or all of the above advantages can be realized.
The system is available with many different options but will often include many or all of those described below. The system delivers the flow to the mill by an operator programmable flow profile. With the use of proportional valves or variable speed pumps the flow is related to the speed of the mill. This conserves tempering solution and maintains consistent flow per square foot. The spray headers can be provided with variable width control. Individual application nozzles or sections of nozzles can be switched on and off to deliver fluid only to the areas needed. The pressure of the spray headers is monitored and mathematically compared to the flow. This allows for a greater sensitivity for plugged nozzle detection. Automatic control and monitoring maintains the concentration and temperature of the tempering solution. The system can easily be heated with steam, gas, or electric heating.
The
strip is blown dry of rolling solution at the exit of the mill by an integrated
blow off system.
As the system is PLC controlled it can be connected to a graphical operator interface. This interface can be used to alter operating parameters such as: flow rates, solution concentration, operating temperature, strip width, etc. The interface is also used to easily display fault conditions in plain English to the operator. Fault conditions can also be expanded to provide direction to the most likely fault causes. This can drastically reduce down time by directing maintenance staff directly to the source of the problem. The operator interface can be as simple as a text display and can be as advanced as a full personal computer (PC) data logging system. The PC based interface can be configured to log performance and parameter information for historical review. The control can also be tied to existing facility networks and the data can be directly accessible to operators and / or supervisors as required.
The configurations are as many and varied as the mills they service. If you are looking to improve the performance of your Temper Mill please contact us to discuss your particular application.
